The Kansas City Chiefs are set to face the Minnesota Vikings on the road in Week 5 of the 2023 NFL season.

This is the first time these two teams have met since the 2019 NFL season, but it was Matt Moore facing the Vikings as Patrick Mahomes recovered from a dislocated kneecap. This will mark the first time that Mahomes and Kirk Cousins have gone head-to-head in the regular season, and there's plenty on the line.

Receivers in focus. . .

The Chiefs did not have a great game from their receiving corps in Week 4 against the New York Jets. This week should be considered a get-right game for that unit. Through four games, the Vikings have allowed a league-leading 74 receptions to wide receivers. Their five receiving touchdowns to wide receivers is tied for the third-most in the league and their 882 receiving yards allowed to wide receivers are the fourth-most in the NFL.

Nick Bolton's return?

The Chiefs have three players listed as questionable in Week 5, but none are more notable than No. 32. Bolton, the leader of the Chiefs' defense, has missed the past two games with injury. Thankfully, Drue Tranquill has been able to start in his place at MIKE linebacker and there has been no drop-off. However, having Bolton back in the fold would make the defense in Kansas City that much deadlier.

3 players to keep an eye on:

RB Jerick McKinnon: Jet McKinnon will have a bit of an extra edge to his game on Sunday. The Vikings drafted him and he played for them from 2014-2017, but released him after drafting Dalvin Cook. This will mark the first time he's faced Minnesota in a non-preseason game during the course of his NFL career.

QB Patrick Mahomes: Even Mahomes admitted that he hasn't been playing well to start the 2023 NFL season. "If I start playing better, everybody will start playing better," he said on Wednesday. Travis Kelce told reporters on Friday that Mahomes is locked in and looking to rectify his poor play from "Sunday Night Football" against the New York Jets.

DE George Karlaftis: During his second season as a professional, Karlaftis appears to have stepped up his game. He's currently pacing to have nearly double his pressure total from his rookie season in 2023. The big thing that everyone is looking for from Karlaftis now is the ability to convert a few more of those pressures into sacks. He might have an opportunity to do that against a pocket passer like Kirk Cousins.
