Juwan Johnson will be ready to go soon
Nick Underhill had the first scoop regarding the starting tight end's rehab from injury.
Johnson developed a stress fracture in his foot during minicamp practices earlier in the offseason. He's been ramping up his rehab at training camp in recent weeks to prepare for the start of the regular season. He has not played in the preseason.
As much as fans may overlook Johnson, he is one of the most dynamic pass catchers in the Saints offense. He's dealt with inconsistency over the past couple of years, but when he's on, he's really on.
With the ball in his hands, he's one of the top tight ends in football in YAC ability. It's usually unlikely that the first tackler gets him down after the catch. That's not normal for many tight ends of his size.
You can see his receiving ability shine when given opportunities in space, and his blocking has improved since he transitioned from a wide receiver early in his pro career.
For New Orleans, they need him back sooner than later, and that sounds like it will be the case.
Saints take Johnson off PUP list before third preseason game
Johnson will practice on Tuesday for New Orleans. It's junk own how much, if any, action he will get in the Saints' final preseason game against the Tennessee Titans.
Hopefully, Johnson will be 100% to begin the 2024 regular season for New Orleans against the Carolina Panthers.
New Orleans Saints rookie that no one is talking about deserves to make the 53-man roster to open 2024 season
He’s been extremely impressive.
