Part of the excitement that surrounded the debut of the 2024 Pittsburgh Steelers was the exposure to the rookie class.

And while there were certainly some standouts, there were some ups and downs for rookie OT Troy Fautanu.

But when the news came out after that he suffered a knee injury, it started to add content to what was a rocky debut, and now we know both the injury and the duration of time that Fautanu is scheduled to miss:

Fautanu Out 2 Weeks With MCL Sprain

After ESPN's Jeremey Fowler reported that Fautanu suffered an MCL sprain on Saturday, Gerry Dulac of the Pittsburgh Post Gazette added the following on Sunday:

Rookie Troy Fautanu is expected to be out two weeks with a knee injury sustained Friday night. He is ok.

In an ideal world, the Steelers are starting Broderick Jones at LT, rookie center Zach Frazier at center, and Fautanu at RT. Even if all were healthy that would be wishful thinking from Steelers fans, as the franchise takes their time with rookies.

But this news basically confirms that Dan Moore Jr. will start at LT, with Broderick Jones at RT.

Fautanu obviously didn't participate in practice on Sunday, and with only three days of camp left, the news forecasts that he will miss the rest of the preseason, leaving him with an uphill battle for the starting job.

It has to be noted that while the Steelers will thrilled that Fautanu fell to them at 20th overall, it was for a reason. Size concerns were there, but Fauttanu has a history of knee concerns.

Now there's no reason to panic, as Fautanu's injury isn't believed to be serious but it bears monitoring.
