Despite losing in the SEC Championship game last fall the Georgia Bulldogs are still very much the standard in college football right now. Two national championships and nearly 40 players sent to the NFL Draft in the last three seasons is about as dominant as a college football program could be. But in order for Kirby Smart and Georgia to stay on top and potentially win yet another championship this season Georgia is going to need a few key breakout players to impress on the field this fall.

There are several potential breakout players on the Georgia Bulldogs to watch for this fall, but let's talk through three that could completely change the course of the season if they step their game up to the peak of their potential in 2024.

Trevor Etienne, Running Back

It's rare to see a star running back transfer to a rival team, but that's exactly what Trevor Etienne did when he left Florida to join Georgia this off-season. And while he is a bit of a known commodity already, for some reason the coaching staff at Florida never truly gave him the reins to the offense on the ground.

Etienne only touched the ball about 150 times last year, despite being a clearly different kind of talent any time he touched the ball as you can see in the post below from Hail Mary Sports.

Etienne tallied over six yards per touch in his first two seasons despite all of Florida's struggles on offense. He should step in right away as the clear feature back and top tier talent of the Georgia backfield. If Etienne takes just one more step in his development there's a chance he could put together a D'Andre Swift kind of performance this fall.

Benjamin Yurosek, Tight End

It's going to be impossible to completely replace a talent like Brock Bowers, but Georgia may have brought in the next best thing in Benjamin Yurosek. He broke out in a big way back in 2021 when he caught over 40 receptions for nearly 700 yards in his first year of action for Stanford. Since then he's fought through horrible offenses and injuries to still find ways to produce when healthy.

Last season he was on pace for a special year before an injury derailed him. His ball skills and ability to win vertically were on display for over 100 yards and a score against Hawaii alone last season (as you can see in my post below).

It's likely that Yurosek will share tight end snaps with Oscar Delp, but Yurosek is a much more dynamic receiver and could very well earn the starting role before the season even begins. Expect great things from this dynamic, long-striding, powerful tight end.

Mykel Williams, Edge Defender

This is a name that many Georgia fans assume has already "broken out" given his pedigree and performance in some key moments last season. But given his potential it's clear that Mykel Williams was still just scratching the surface of what he could be last fall.

Last season he totaled just 26 pass rush pressures for the entire season and barely got half way to double digit sacks. If Williams steps up and looks like the early round NFL Draft pick talent many project him to be he should put up an incredible season this fall like he has never done before. And the Bulldogs need him to in a big way if they want to win it all. Last season, surprisingly, no Georgia player had more than six sacks. Only three defenders had even more than three sacks. Williams likely changes that this fall as one of the best defenders in the entire nation.
