Arkansas State head coach Butch Jones and his coaching staff sent out a scholarship offer this month that will have Tennessee Vols fans feeling like they're living in the Twilight Zone.

Jones, the head coach at Tennessee from 2013 to 2017, and his staff at Arkansas State offered 2028 quarterback Knox Kiffin earlier this month.

Knox, of course, is the son of former Tennessee head coach Lane Kiffin (currently the head coach at Ole Miss).

Talk about worlds colliding. Who would've thought back in 2013, when Lane was at USC and Jones had just replaced Derek Dooley at Tennessee, that the Vols' then head coach would be extending an offer to Lane's son 11 years later?

Sports, truly, are unpredictable — even the off-the-field stuff.

As for Knox, he's developing into a high level quarterback that has a bright future.

Mississippi Mojo 7-on-7 coach Cam Floyd told Inside the Rebels recently that Knox has the best arm he's seen on that particular circuit.

"I tell you what, I've been in this circuit for seven-on-seven for a few years. I started out with 12U and now I'm with the 14U, and by far, he probably has the best arm I've seen in this circuit," said Floyd to Inside The Rebels in late March. "We've played teams from Louisiana, Texas, Florida. I'm very, very impressed with his arm strength. Usually, as the offensive coordinator, I have to kind of coach the kids on where to throw the ball. Today, I showed him the play and he dissected it himself. You don't get that a lot in 14 years old. He's wise beyond his years. You can tell his dad is a coach."

Knox almost certainly won't be playing for Jones at Arkansas State. And that's no slight against Jones or the Red Wolves — Knox might not even play for his father at Ole Miss. The younger Kiffin told Inside the Rebels that he'd prefer to play against his dad.

If Knox keeps progressing, the sky is the limit for the youngster. And it seems much more likely we'll see him at a program like a USC or a Texas (or maybe even Tennessee?…wouldn't that be wild) than Arkansas State.
