Jonathon Brooks, the second-round draft pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, is already impressing the Carolina Panthers coaching staff.
Running back Jonathon Brooks must be a special talent.
He is already turning heads on the Carolina Panthers coaching staff without playing much football.
Panthers running back coach Bernie Parmalee oozed praise of Brook Tuesday after OTAs. He lauded the former Texas running back's physical traits and appeared eager to see what he does on the field once he is healthy.
"He’s what you want in a back,” Parmalee said. "He’s got good size, vision, playmaker, can do it all, position flexibility, plays hard. And when the ball’s in his hand, he makes things happen. So that’s all you ever want for guys in your position.”
When the Panthers drafted Brooks, there was some confusion. Already the Panthers had Chuba Hubbard and Miles Sanders on the roster. However, adding Brooks into the equation adds more talent to a versatile running back room.
Brooks is still rehabbing from an ACL injury that cut his final year in college short. As a result, he has watched each Panthers practice from the sidelines.
Though the injury is ill-timed, Brooks said he expects to be ready to go come NFL training camp. For the Panthers, that is a welcome sight given Sanders' long-standing struggles.
