Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow has completed two full seasons out of the four total he's played since entering the NFL. In both seasons, gaudy stats were posted by the former No. 1 overall pick.
From 2021-22, Burrow averaged 4,543 yards, 34.5 touchdowns, and 13 interceptions in regular season play. He also set the Bengals' single season passing yards record in '21 with 4,611, and the single season touchdown record with 35 in '22.
No one would be surprised to see those records getting topped or matched again in 2024 if Burrow plays a full season. That's what Gary Davenport of Bleacher Report predicts will happen this year.
Davenport predicted stats for all starting QBs this season and landed on the following figures for Burrow (league rank):
- Completion %: 67.3 (5th)
- Passing yards: 4,665 (4th)
- Passing touchdowns: 35 (T-3rd)
- Interceptions: 11 (T-12th)
This season would match well with Burrow's previous full seasons, both of which eventually resulted in trips to at least the AFC Championship game.
In totality, it would be the greatest season by a Bengals QB in franchise history.
4,665 yards would be Burrow's highest yardage mark in a season, surpassing his previous high of 4,611 he put up in 16 games three years ago. 35 touchdowns would also tie his career best from two years ago as well.
Completing 67.3% of his passes would be slightly lower than his marks from either of those years, but 11 interceptions would also be on the low side. He threw 14 and 12 picks in '21 and '22, respectively.
Finishing in the top five in the three major categories would also give Burrow a great chance at being both a Pro Bowl and All-Pro honoree. Burrow's only been selected to the Pro Bowl once, and he's never garnered enough votes to be a First Team or Second Team All-Pro by the AP.
More importantly, if Burrow is breaking team records and earning accolades, it means the Bengals are set up for another deep postseason run.
That will matter more to the 27-year old gunslinger than what the box score says.
