The time has finally arrived for Texas and Oklahoma to join the SEC as new conference opponents in 2024.

If there's one thing it's sure to bring, it's shake up. How exactly that presents itself will remain to be seen, though, with a mixed bag of opinions on how it could all play out.

The most formidable in-conference opponent the Sooners and the Longhorns will face in their first year on the scene since the conference realignment is the Georgia Bulldogs, projected yet again to be the best team in college football.

Head coach Kirby Smart recently offered his opinion on both teams.

“It’s extremely tough, the fact that they’re in our conference,” Smart said of Texas during the SEC Spring Meetings in Destin. “They’re further away. They’re a powerful football team. They’ve got a great state to recruit in.”

Oklahoma will also present a test.

“Both their coaching staffs are really good,” Smart said. “Sark and Brent both have SEC experience, with Brent being over in the ACC and playing at Clemson he’s played SEC teams forever. They both know the climate they're jumping into and we think it makes our conference better.”

It will be interesting to watch how these teams fare against one another as college football continues to shift.
