Background

Robinson is an interesting prospect at the cornerback position. A five-star recruit who ranked No. 2 overall per the Rivals’ Industry rankings out of New Haven, Connecticut, he entered a deep cornerback room. Robinson played minimal snaps during his true freshman year in 2024, seeing the field just 51 times on defense. Once his sophomore season rolled around, Robinson started 12 of 14 games and played 499 snaps, including a season-high 48 of them in the College Football Playoff against the Ole Miss Rebels.

As a redshirt freshman, Robinson thrived playing both the boundary and field side, which will help him next season. He made multiple freshman All-America teams and was second-team All-SEC. Bulldogs head coach Kirby Smart and defensive coordinator Glenn Schumann do a great job developing defensive backs, and Robinson will get plenty of opportunities to be on an island and shut down the opponents top receiver.

Player evaluation

It’s really easy to see why Robinson was a top recruit. He pairs ample size at 6-0 and 180 pounds with fluid athleticism to keep up with receivers. He can flip his hips quickly and carry vertically, while also staying fluid when moving laterally. Robinson is a willing tackler, attacking ball carriers with aggressiveness downhill.

When the ball is in the air, Robinson does a great job attacking the football. On 35 targets last season, Robinson allowed just 15 catches with 4 interceptions, and another 4 passes batted down. Unfortunately, he also allowed a whopping 21.0 yards per catch. That kind of feast or famine mentality can work, but it’s incredibly high variance. It’s why the Trevon Diggs comp is there. He also needs to work on his frame, as he can get pushed around a little bit in space.

Overall, Robinson has all the tools to be a plus NFL cornerback, but he needs significant refinement to get there.
