Philadelphia Eagles cornerback James Bradberry has been the biggest question mark this offseason.
The Eagles currently have 14 cornerbacks on their 90-man roster and cutting or trading Bradberry would give the team some financial relief. It would also open up another roster spot to add some additional competition elsewhere.
Will he stay or will he go?
Unlike Darius Slay and several other veterans, Bradberry did not show up to voluntary OTAs which, to some, suggests he could be on his way out.
But according to Eagles defensive backs coach Christian Parker, it sounds like Bradberry has been around the practice facility this offseason quite a bit, and isn't going anywhere.
"I've seen him a good amount," Parker told the media on Monday. "And even the couple of days he hasn't been here, he's communicating. We've talked on Zoom or the phone. I think he's very motivated. You know James is a real professional. He's played in this league long enough. He understands what comes with playing the corner position in the NFL, so he's had a great mentality. He works hard, he's learning the defense just like everybody else and we're looking forward to seeing what he does this year."
For now, Parker's words point toward Bradberry sticking with the team. Sure, Parker could just be covering up the fact that a trade or a post-June 1 cut is on the way for Bradberry. But the reality is that it wouldn't be too surprising to see the Eagles keep Bradberry around in a reserve role to help Slay with the rookies.
While Bradberry is coming off a down year, he isn't too far removed from his 2022 second-team All-Pro nod where had three interceptions and 17 pass breakups. He's also been very consistent with having at least 10 pass breakups since he entered the league in 2016.
The Eagles hold their first mandatory minicamp under Nick Sirianni starting Tuesday, June 4 and if Bradberry doesn't show up, then we'll have a clearer answer on his future with the team.
