Strengths

  • Aggressiveness: Consistent approach down in and down out with the intent of making his presence felt as a tackler and physical CB
  • Ball Skills: Innate ability to react to the football and make plays at the catch point
  • Run defense: Willing tackler that will expose poor run blocking WRs and get downhill in a hurry

Areas of Improvement-Concerns

  • Pedal-Footwork: High and choppy with a hitch in his transition. Lots of crossover running where a pedal would be more appropriate
  • Hip turns: Zone turns and speed turns often at inopportune times
  • Reaction: Can be late to see route concepts or break on the ball

Evaluation:

Arnold is a feisty corner with a strong competitive drive and will to win. An above average athlete, teams will be comfortable deploying him around the secondary, with the intent of him being a lockdown CB #1. A little seasoning in terms of his play recognition and decisions to attack route stems could have him reaching his ceiling as a first-round pick.
