Jayden Daniels, QB, LSU

Height/Weight: 6-4, 210

Age: 23.3

Strengths

  • Pocket Work: Keeps eyes on his target with an innate feel for pressure and uncanny timelines to avoid rushers
  • Mechanics: Quick trigger and smooth stroke that match precise footwork and the ability to drive the ball within his hips
  • Deep Ball: Moon-ball thrower that can drop pillows from the top bunk
  • Game Breaker: Elite athlete that can flip the script with the ball in his hands as a runner

Areas of Improvement-Concerns

  • Frame: Narrow shoulders and slender torso that limits his upper body development
  • Play Style: Too daring as a runner. Takes unnecessary shots that will accumulate into serious injuries in the NFL
  • Intermediate Accuracy: Tends to spray some balls high and or long in the short-intermediate area
  • Anticipation: Shows a touch of anticipation on outbreaking routes but largely avoids the middle of the field and timing based concepts

Evaluation:

The reigning Heisman trophy winner, Jayden Daniels lit up college football’s best conference on a weekly basis with his jaw dropping run plays and deep ball’s that parlayed into TDs and a tremendous highlight reel. Within the tape however, Daniels shows he’s more than just flash, with significant ability to feel out a pocket, negotiate with a pass rush and make full field reads. In order to become an upper echelon QB in the league, Daniels will need to become more familiar with the timing and anticipation part of the game, but even more importantly, learn how to protect himself. That will take some time, seeing as he is an ultimate competitor, but his current play-style and build isn’t suited for that game in the NFL, even if his talent suggests otherwise.
