The Tennessee Vols are one of three programs out in front for 2025 four-star offensive tackle Jaelynne Matthews.
Matthews, 6-foot-5/290 lbs from Toms River, NJ, is rated in 247Sports' composite rankings as the No. 10 offensive tackle in the nation and the No. 2 player in the state of New Jersey.
Georgia and Miami are also at the top of the list for Matthews.
“Georgia, Tennessee and Miami are definitely tight,” said Matthews to On3 this week. “Those three are definitely the tightest at the top."
Rutgers, the hometown option for Matthews, is also in the mix.
Matthews will be in Knoxville this weekend for the Vols' spring game. He's also set to take an official visit to Tennessee in June.
Those visits will be incredibly important as Matthews admitted to On3 that it's going to be tough to make a decision.
“It is going to be pretty hard to pick one of these schools,” said Matthews. "I have built unique relationships with coaches from each of these schools and that is going to make it difficult…It will be one of the most difficult decisions I have had to make."
Tennessee has seven players committed to its 2025 recruiting class, which is ranked No. 14 in the nation.
