It's not often that a four-star recruit is described as "underrated", but that might be the case with 2025 Tennessee Vols defensive line commit Ethan Utley.
Utley, 6-foot-4/265 lbs from Nashville, TN, is rated in 247Sports' composite rankings as the No. 21 defensive lineman in the nation and the No. 4 player in the state of Tennessee.
The Ensworth standout committed to the Vols in late March.
This past weekend, Utley took part in the Under Armour Next Series in Nashville and he was praised by On3's Charles Power for winning "most if not all" of his one-on-one reps during the camp.
Power pointed out that Utley has "mismatch ability as an interior pass rusher along with the skill set to be an edge setter on the outside".
From On3: Ethan Utley showcased versatile pass rush ability at Under Armour Nashville. The local product won most if not all of his reps in 1-on-1’s with a nice combination of initial quickness, active hands and functional strength. Utley has mismatch ability as an interior pass rusher along with the skill set to be an edge setter on the outside. The On300 prospect committed to Tennessee on March 28.
The Vols have been loading up on talented defensive line/edge rushers during the last several recruiting cycles. And it sounds like they have another potential stud in Utley.
Utley's ability to play inside or line up as an edge rusher gives Tennessee defensive coordinator Tim Banks the ability to create some unique looks/pressures that could cause major problems for opposing offenses.
