Welcome to what could be the toughest division in the NFL, the NFC North. The Detroit Lions, Green Bay Packers, Chicago Bears and Minnesota Vikings are all looking to be pretty entertaining teams in 2024 and there's a solid shot that more than one of the teams in this divsion will make the playoffs this season.
With that said, we combed over the rosters, coaching staffs and schedules of each team in the divsion and we're prepared to make our prediction on what each team's record will be at the close of the 2024 season.
NFC North 2024 Record Predictions
1. Detroit Lions (13-4)
This should come as no surprise. The Lions were one of the best teams in the NFL in 2024 and won the division en route to a trip to the NFC Championship. They were a bad second half away from their first Super Bowl appearance.
Since then they've drastically improved their secondary with a brand new cornerback room featuring Carlton Davis, Terrion Arnold, Ennis Rakestraw and Amik Robertson. The Lions had trouble in the secondary last season, but still managed to ranked 13th in defensive DVOA. If they're able to have the improvement they're expected to have to have in the secondary, the Lions could very well have a top 10 defense to go along with one of the best offenses in football.
The one concern is that the Lions may not have the best receiver depth right now. They have Amon-Ra St. Brown and then a bunch of guys they hope will be good.
2. Green Bay Packers (10-7)
Jordan Love showed in 2023 that he could very well be the next great Packers quarterback. He had his first shot to be the team's starter and he knocked it out of the park. With Josh Jacobs joining the team and setting the Packers offense up with a chance to have a solid run game, this young offense might be able to put some things together and make the wild card.
The thing that could hurt them is that they do have a middling offensive line and their receivers, while improving, are still relatively young and it shows a lot. Still, they have a good enough defense to make up for some of the inexperience they have on offense.
3. Chicago Bears (8-9)
The Bears got the quarterback everyone wanted in the draft with Caleb Williams and they surrounded him with one hell of a supporting cast for a rookie. Keenan Allen, Rome Odunze, D.J. Moore, Cole Kmet and D'Andre Swift is very impressive. That offense can put up numbers in due time.
The problem is that outside of the linebackers, this is a relatively bad defense in Chicago. They're going to have some trouble stopping teams. There's also chance that Caleb Williams goes through the rookie growing pains that most quarterbacks go through. There's a lot more Bryce Young's than there are C.J. Stroud's.
The Bears are a team on the rise and they are going to be hell to deal with once they get that defense built up and continue to strengthen their offense. 2025 is going to be a challenging year for all the other teams in this division.
4. Minnesota Vikings (6-11)
When you have Justin Jefferson on your team, you're going to get some wins off his back because he's unstoppable. Other than that, the Vikings seems to be nearing a much needed rebuild. Kirk Cousins is out and now it's J.J. McCarthy's turn to be the guy. We'll see if he can do it. There's a lot of questions about him based off the way Michigan used him.
On the defensive side of the ball, losing Danielle Hunter and C.J. Wonnum is tough. That's 25 sacks that you now have to replace. Jonathan Greenard and Dallas Turner should be good, but there's going to be a learning curve in that Brian Flores defense.
Three team trade proposal helps Lions, Raiders and Titans’ rosters immediately improve
Last week Bleacher Report writer Kristopher Knox did this cool idea where they tried to take a page out of the NBA's book and see what it would be like if the NFL did three team trades. It's something that has happened in the past for the NFL. The most notable one being the trade that […]
