The Tennessee Vols appear to be the team to beat for the top overall player in the 2026 recruiting class.

Earlier this month, On3's Steve Wiltfong placed a prediction for the Vols to land 2026 five-star quarterback Faizon Brandon.

On Sunday evening, 247Sports recruiting analyst Tom Loy followed Wiltfong's lead and placed a "crystal ball prediction" for Tennessee to land Brandon.

"I probably could have done this the day I first spoke with him when we dropped the 2026 rankings and you guys named him the No. 1 player, No. 1 quarterback in the country," noted Loy. "Tennessee is doing a phenomenal job. He's been on campus a bunch of times."

Brandon, 6-foot-4/195 lbs from Greensboro, NC, is rated by 247Sports as the No. 1 overall player in the 2026 recruiting class.

The North Carolina native has visited Tennessee seven times since last summer, including his latest trip to Knoxville earlier this month.

Brandon is from the same city as former Vols quarterback Hendon Hooker. And Hooker, unsurprisingly, has been selling Brandon on playing for Tennessee for a couple of years now.

“(Hooker) said keep working, never stop working," said Brandon to 247Sports last summer. "And he’s said a lot of good things to the (Tennessee) coaches about me…His dad has told me that they treat him well (at Tennessee), and he said the move from Virginia Tech to there really felt like home, like, a much better home there.”

If Tennessee can land Brandon, it will give the Vols a five-star quarterback in three of the last four recruiting cycles (joining Nico Iamaleava and George MacIntyre).
