Diontae Johnson is getting comfortable in Charlotte.

After the first day of mandatory workouts, Johnson spoke about wanting to reach his full potential playing for the Carolina Panthers. What he hopes comes as a result is a fairly hefty contract extension.

"Everybody getting all these big contracts," Johnson said. "It just motivates me to keep working. God [is] going to give it to me when he is ready, so I just have to keep stacking days and not worry about it."

Most of all, Johnson wants to help the Panthers win, letting his play "speak for itself."

Johnson added: "And if they feel like they want to extend me, then I’m all for it.”

The Panthers traded for Johnson at the start of the offseason. Carolina sent away Donte Jackson and draft capital in exchange for the former Pro Bowl-caliber player.

And Pro Bowl-level play is what Johnson wants to return to.

The 27-year-old receiver's best season came in 2021. He caught eight touchdowns while amassing 1,161 yards.

During the 2023 season, Johnson racked up 717 yards and five touchdowns on 51 catches. He is looking to reach his 2021 heights all over again. If he does, Bryce Young will be part of the reason why.
