The Tennessee Vols only have a few game left this season — a max of five and a minimum of two — but they still have time to accomplish something that's never been achieved before in college baseball.
According to Tennessee Associate Director of Media Relations Sean Barrows, the Volunteers are just the second team in college baseball history to have four players hit at least 20 home runs in the same season.
If first baseman Blake Burke, who currently has 19 home runs, hits a home run before the Vols' run ends in Omaha (via either elimination or winning the championship), then Tennessee will become the first program in college baseball history to have five players hit 20 or more home runs in a season.
Christian Moore, Billy Amick, Kavares Tears, and Dylan Dreiling are the four Volunteers with 20 or more home runs so far this season.
What a run it's been for this Tennessee team. Between the bats and the stellar pitching, it's obvious that this team has what it takes to get the job done. But they still have a couple of tough tests ahead if they're going to be the last team standing in Omaha.
