The greatness of Cam Newton recently earned more recognition

On the NFL Throwback channel on YouTube, each team's Mount Rushmore of players was revealed during a two-hour video.

For the Panthers, on that list was linebacker Luke Kuechly, quarterback Cam Newton, defensive end Julius Peppers and wide receiver Steve Smith Sr. Not a bad list.

Each player on the list is quite deserving. Peppers is a Hall of Famer. Smith is a soon-to-be Hall of Fame player, and the same goes for Kuechly, who defined linebacking in the NFL for half a decade.

Standing above them all in defining a generation of play at the position is Newton, who led the Panthers to the 2015 Super Bowl while winning an MVP award.

When Newton was at the peak of his powers, he always found a way to win football games. However, looking back on his career, it is littered by the question of "what if?" There is no doubt that the quasi-retired quarterback still feels like he should have accomplished more during his decade playing in Charlotte.
