The Atlanta Falcons have selected Clemson defensive tackle Ruke Orhorhoro with the 35th overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft.
The Falcons traded up from the 43rd pick with the Arizona Cardinals to snag Orhorhoro, surrendering the 79th pick in exchange. Orhorhoro is a hybrid player who can contribute as a defensive tackle or defensive end. His top-end athleticism is what makes him an intriguing prospect.
Orhorhoro plays very stout against the run and should be able to hold his own in that department right off the bat. He needs to develop his technical pass rushing skills, including his hand work and ability to take on double teams.
There's no doubt that Atlanta needs help along its defensive line, and Orhorhoro should be an instant contributor. It's never a bad thing to take a flyer on someone with the athletic upside that Orhorhoro has, and coach Raheem Morris and his staff should have the tools to develop him. Orhorhoro's best football is still in front of him, and he has the potential to anchor the Falcons' defensive line over the next several years.
