The Baltimore Ravens' offensive continues to undergo a facelift.
Per ESPN's Adam Schefter, the Ravens are trading right tackle Morgan Moses and their fourth-round pick (134th overall) to the New York Jets for their fourth-round pick (112th overall) and sixth-round pick (218th overall).
Moses was scheduled to count for $5,460,000 against Baltimore's salary cap this year. Trading him away will help get the club underneath the salary cap by the time the new league year begins at 4pm ET Wednesday afternoon when the trade becomes official.
The trade helps the Ravens as a whole, but it's the latest move towards unveiling a reconstructed offensive line.
Turnover is inevitable up front for Baltimore's offense
While Lamar Jackson and Derrick Henry make up an exciting backfield duo, they'll be operating behind a new left guard, right tackle, and most likely a new right guard as well.
Prior to trading Moses, who played nearly 2,000 snaps for Baltimore over the past two years, the Ravens also watched left guard John Simpson leave for a two-year deal worth up to $18 million with the Jets. Simpson, who took over at left guard in 2023 after joining the practice squad the previous year, will now reunite with Moses in the Big Apple, which is where Moses originally came from prior to joining the Ravens in 2022.
The Ravens did manage to rework left tackle Ronnie Stanley's deal to lower his cap figure this year, and center Tyler Linderbaum isn't going anywhere, but right guard Kevin Zeitler is about to enter free agency again fresh off his first Pro Bowl nod and 34th birthday. Watching him leave as well would mean three new starters are inbound for the o-line.
In-house names such as Ben Cleveland and Patrick Mekari can fill in those spots, and there's also the NFL Draft featuring a strong class of offensive tackles to choose from.
Baltimore will have options, but change is coming.
