The Dallas Cowboys are "seeking" a running back during the 2024 NFL free agency frenzy.

I use the quotation marks above because the front office's definition of seeking is reportedly looking for players under the $4 million price tag and receiving calls from free agents instead of making them.

In other words, the Cowboys are likely just interested in guys that'll come in and sign for minimum salary-type deals.

On Wednesday, reports emerged former Green Bay Packers RB A.J. Dillon looking into the Cowboys among other teams but NFL Network's Jane Slater has since reported "water isn't boiling" around such a transaction.

Slater added some insight on somebody that Cowboys fans have been wondering about as free agent options continue to come off the board while Dallas remains the one team in the league yet to make any outside addition: Ezekiel Elliott.

Per Slater, Elliott hasn't received any calls from the Cowboys.

Now granted, that could change in the future. Elliott was released by the Cowboys last year and played the 2023 NFL season with the New England Patriots. However, his signing didn't occur until preseason football was happening. The Patriots signed him on August 16th.

With New England, Elliott rushed for 642 yards in 184 carries (3.5 yards per attempt). He also added 313 yards as a receiver and five total touchdowns.
