Jaylen Wright is one heck of a runner.  The former Tennessee Vols running back proved it in 2023 by becoming the first Tennessee running back since Jaylen Hurd in 2015 to rush for 1000 yards with 1013.

As it turns out, the metrics back up what Vol fans already knew: that Wright is pretty special.

Wright took part in drills on Saturday afternoon, and he put up some very impressive numbers, including one of the best in the history of the combine by a running back.

Per multiple reports, Wright's broad jump was the second longest in the history of the NFL Combine.  He added to that with a very impressive 38" vertical jump.

But for scouts and casual fans, the 40 time is the king of metrics, and Wright didn't disappoint there either.  On his first run, he posted a 4.44, looking a little unsteady at the start of the run.

However, he made up for it on his second attempt, posting a blistering 4.38.  That's good for second among all running backs.  According to the NFL Network broadcast, citing Next Gen Stats, Wright's time at the 5-yard mark during his 40-yard dash was 15.18 mph, the fastest among all running backs at the last two combines.  That includes the Dolphins' 2023 rookie speedster De'Von Achane.

Wright's tape shows he's more than just a physical specimen.  He ran with vision and power in 2023, averaging an absurd 7.4 yards per carry last year.  Now, if he didn't already have teams' attention with his tape, he absolutely should after putting up eye-popping numbers across the board at the Combine.

Tennessee fans can expect to see the talented runner on the field plenty for some NFL team once September rolls around.  He's simply too talented not to be.
