The 2024 NFL Draft class is stacked with offensive line prospects. Most draft analysts spend time talking up the offensive tackles, but the list of talented interior line prospects in this class is quite deep too. And one of the best interior offensive lineman in this class is Zak Zinter, right guard from Michigan's 2023 National Championship team. He's been somewhat overlooked for months now due to his season-ending injury, but some news on his potential NFL landing spots has finally surfaced.
According to Ryan Fowler of Bleacher Report, Zinter has scheduled two Top 30 team visits with the Philadelphia Eagles and the Green Bay Packers. The exact dates have yet to be confirmed, but those are two teams showing great interest in one of the best guards in the 2024 NFL Draft class.
Zak Zinter was having a truly spectacular season before he broke both bones in his lower leg against Ohio State last fall. He had logged nearly 300 pass blocking snaps and had not once allowed a sack or even been responsible for a hit on J.J. McCarthy on the season. Zinter was on pace to post perhaps the highest pass block efficiency numbers in the entire country (over 99%).
Both the Green Bay Packers and the Philadelphia Eagles were weak in at least one of their guard spots last year, and could both use a strong, consistent pass blocking monster on the inside. Based on recent mock draft data both teams look like they're in great position to draft him without having to make any odd maneuvers via trade too.
In recent weeks Zinter has been rising into the early fourth round and perhaps late third round discussion in mock drafts. The Packers have two late third round picks (88 and 91). The Eagles have one (98). Zinter would likely be an earlier projected pick if it weren't for the double bone break and medical concerns to follow, but that might be exactly why both teams think they're perfectly situated to draft him.
