The Miami Dolphins have dealt with plenty of aggravation with safety Jordan Poyer when he was with the Buffalo Bills.  Now they can try to win with him on their side of the ball.

Poyer reportedly agreed to a one-year contract with the Dolphins on Tuesday evening.

Poyer was drafted by the Eagles in the 7th round of the 2013 draft, but it was in 2017 when his career took a turn for the better when he joined the Bills. He started 15 games in 2017 and 16 games in every season until 2022. He earned first-team All-Pro honors in 2021 with 93 combined tackles, 5 interceptions, and 3 sacks.  The cap-strapped Bills release him on March 6.

The move is a massive boost to an area that had become a concern with Brandon Jones leaving for Denver and DeShon Elliott an unrestricted free agent.  Poyer will slot in next to Jevon Holland, giving Miami one of the better safety duos in the league.

As Cameron Wolfe notes, Poyer has had interest in playing for the Dolphins as he lives close to the facility, so it likely wasn't a tough sell to get him to come play in South Florida.  That said, being able to get him on a one-year deal for presumably a reasonable amount (figures haven't been released as of yet) is still a major pickup no matter how you slice it.

It will be a welcome change for Dolphins fans to cheer on Poyer in aqua instead of watching him be a nuisance to Miami on Sundays.
