A couple of Tennessee Vols players revealed this week on The Players Lounge Tennessee which game they're most excited for in 2024.
Defensive lineman Omari Thomas, running back Dylan Sampson, and wide receiver Kaleb Webb are each excited for Tennessee's matchup against the Oklahoma Sooners in Norman this fall.
"I'm excited for Oklahoma," said Thomas.
"I've never played over there…they say it be rocking," noted Sampson.
"Don't forget about Coach Heup, too," continued Samspon. "He was that guy (at Oklahoma). He was that guy."
"I'd probably say Oklahoma, too," added Webb. "First road game (in 2024). I've never been to Oklahoma, see what the environment's like."
While discussing the Oklahoma game, Webb pointed out that he noticed Vols offensive coordinator Joey Halzle, a former Oklahoma quarterback, in the background of the viral video of Sooners wide receiver Malcom Kelly rapping in the locker room after the Big 12 Championship game in 2006.
There's no doubt that the Oklahoma game is going to be a big one for Heupel and Halzle. And it sounds like Tennessee's players are just as excited to play the Sooners.
It's a game that will help determine Tennessee's fate in 2024. A loss to Oklahoma in September would make the Vols' path to the College Football Playoff significantly more difficult.
