Former Philadelphia Eagles star Zach Ertz is returning to the NFC East next fall.
According to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero, Ertz is expected to sign a one-year, $5 million deal with the Washington Commanders.
Ertz will reunite with his former head coach and current Commanders offensive coordinator Kliff Kingsbury.
The former Eagles' second-round pick of the 2023 NFL Draft spent almost nine years in Philly before he was traded to the Cardinals during the 2021 season in exchange for cornerback Tai Gowan and a fifth-round pick.
As a three-time Pro Bowler, Ertz caught 579 passes for 6,267 yards and 38 touchdowns during his time with the Birds.
His overall production over the last two years has been disappointing due to injuries.
He only played seven games for the Cardinals last season, catching 27 passes with one touchdown before he landed on injured reserve with a quad injury. He was released by Arizona a month later and picked up by the Lions for a short stint on their practice squad.
Ertz will get a fresh start in Washington under a revamped coaching staff led by head coach Dan Quinn.
And he'll now look forward to facing his former team twice a year.
