The Green Bay Packers are one of the top teams in the NFL according to The Athletic's post free agency NFL power rankings.
Entering the offseason, the Packers were No. 6 in the Athletic's NFL power rankings. Green Bay moved up a spot to No. 5 in The Athletic's updated post free agency power rankings.
From The Athletic: The Packers essentially swapped out 29-year-old running back Aaron Jones for 26-year-old running back Josh Jacobs, who signed a four-year deal that could be worth $48 million (or could be terminated pretty cheaply after one year). They also spent big on McKinney to help new defensive coordinator Jeff Hafley. Green Bay released David Bahktiari, but that doesn’t count as a notable loss because the left tackle has played only 13 games in the last three seasons.
The Packers outperformed expectations in 2023, going 9-8 in Jordan Love's first season as the franchise's starting quarterback.
Not only did Green Bay reach the playoffs, but they also scored an upset win against the Dallas Cowboys in the wild card round of the playoffs before losing to the San Francisco 49ers in the divisional round.
The Packers made some solid additions to their roster during the first wave of free agency, signing free agent running back Josh Jacobs and safety Xavier McKinney to multi-year deals to bolster both sides of the ball. They'll also have an opportunity to add to their roster during the NFL draft next month.
It certainly appears that Green Bay will enter the 2024 season as one of the teams to beat in the NFC.
