Cleveland Browns are adding more depth to the running back room with their second signing since free agency started.

Signing with Cleveland is former Chicago Bears RB D’Onta Foreman, who gives the Browns some needed depth at the position.

Cleveland had already signed RB Nyheim Hines this offseason but he is a receiving back and special teams help, not a back to run between the tackles. With Nick Chubb’s status uncertain to start the season while he recovers from his knee injury, the Browns had to add another solid runner.

Foreman joins Jerome Ford as the top two backs on the team with Hines and Pierre Strong Jr. behind them. Foreman is 27 years old and heading into his seventh season after being a third-round pick out of Texas in the 2017 NFL Draft.

In nine games last season, Foreman had 425 rushing yards and four touchdowns with the Bears. The year before that he started nine of 17 games with the Carolina Panthers and had a career-best 914 yards.

Foreman spent the two previous seasons with the Tennessee Titans and had 661 rushing yards in 15 total games with them. He started his career with the Houston Texans for the first two years but appeared in just 11 games.

The Browns going out and getting Foreman solves their issue of needing more depth at the position and gives them a solid player on a one-year deal.
