There are plenty of quarterbacks around the NFL who are well-known for getting off to slow starts to seasons, but this has not been the case for Baltimore Ravens passer Lamar Jackson.
Jackson is set to be under center for the Ravens’ upcoming Week 1 opener against the Houston Texans. He has featured in each of Baltimore’s last five regular season openers, and no team has had any answer for the two-time Pro Bowler in Week 1.
As noted by StatMuse, Jackson has logged 1,071 passing yards, 12 touchdown passes, and one interception in five career Week 1 games. Baltimore came away with wins in four out of these five games.
For Ravens head coach John Harbaugh, it comes as no surprise that Jackson has had his way in regular season openers.
“You want your quarterback to be on point and ready to go," Harbaugh said during a press conference on Monday. “Lamar [Jackson] is our quarterback, and I expect him to be on point and ready to go. He has been in the past, and I'm sure he expects that of himself.
“I think everybody just has to go out there and just put their best foot forward — play the best they can — not have a lot of anxiety [and] just put it out there and let it rip."
Jackson is set to square off with the Texans for the third time in his career on Sunday. He recorded five touchdown passes and a 134.5 passer rating in his previous two meetings against the AFC South side.
