The New England Patriots released an update on rookie cornerback Isaiah Bolden on Sunday morning following a scary injury that led to the game versus the Green Bay Packers game being called off and Bolden being taken to the hospital.
The official statement released by the Patriots follows an earlier update provided on Saturday that indicated that Bolden "had feeling in all his extremities, but has been taken to a local hospital for further tests and observation."
Per Sunday's statement, Bolden has since been released from Aurora Bay Medical Center in Green Bay, Wisconsin. You can read the full statement below.
"After undergoing a series of evaluations and being held for overnight observations, Patriots cornerback Isaiah Bolden has been released from Aurora Bay Medical Center in Green Bay, Wisconsin, where he was transported to after sustaining an on-field injury in the fourth quarter of Saturday's night's preseason game between the New England Patriots and the Green Bay Packers.
Isaiah will travel with the team today. We thank the medical staff at Aurora Bay Medical Center for their overnight evaluations, as well as the Patriots and Packers medical staff for their immediate on-field response and care in transporting Isaiah to a nearby hospital.
Due to the circumstances surrounding the abrupt and unexpected ending to last night's game, the Patriots will return to Foxborough today. The joint practices that were scheduled with the Tennessee Titans on Tuesday and Wednesday are canceled. The team will train in Foxborough this week and fly to Nashville on Thursday for Friday night's game."
First and foremost, hearing that Bolden has quickly been released from the hospital will help Patriots and NFL fans to breathe a huge sigh of relief. Here's hoping the rookie continues on the right track following Saturday's incident.
Some things are bigger than football as Bill Belichick and Mac Jones alluded to moments after the game was called off.
As far as football goes, however, the Patriots canceling their joint practices with the Titans is a move that will impact the team's preparation ahead of the regular season. That being said, Belichick is looking out for his players just like he was on Saturday night when he talked to Packers HC Matt LaFleur about stopping the game.
He understands his team needs time to process what happened over the weekend and joint practices provide a game-like environment. It's for the best.
