After a non-commital answer following the loss to the New York Giants, Carolina Panthers head coach Frank Reich gave Bryce Young and the other offensive starters news they'd love to hear.

As of Monday, the Panthers plan to play the No. 1 overall pick and other offensive starters in the team's preseason finale against the Detroit Lions on Friday.

"We're going to play Bryce and play our offensive starters," Reich said. "[We] Still want to get more reps. I think we had about 20 last week or something like that. It's kind of TBD again. It could be about the same. It could be a little bit less. It could be a little bit more. I'd like to get a little rhythm going, and accomplish certain things."

The offense hasn't looked great in recent weeks. There have been flashes and instances where the group strung together a series of plays, but for the most part, the first unit has looked extremely unprepared and uncertain.

So naturally, Reich wants to see a little more out of his starters prior to Week 1 against the Atlanta Falcons.

Playing the starters for one more week gives the offense another opportunity to be more prepared for when games really matter. Specifically, in Reich's mind, he wants to make sure Young is ready to go in Week 1.

"I feel he'll be ready," Reich said. "It's great to prepare for it and to go through the mental exercise of we got to get ready for all these blitzes."

With the starters seeing a little more preseason action, the Panthers will get one final look at the offensive line and quarterback, both of which need work heading into the regular season.
