One last preseason football game for the Cleveland Browns and Kansas City Chiefs before the real thing begins!
In this one, the Browns are going to roll out their starters for more than one series for the first time this preseason. That is certainly notable, as it will give the ability to get live reps against a good Chiefs team. Earlier in the week, Kevin Stefanski said if a starter can go, he will go in the final dress rehearsal.

How much will Deshaun Watson play?

In the final preseason game for the Browns, the expectation is that the starters play for 20-25 played. Depending on how the offensive drives go, that could be two or three drives for Deshaun Watson under center. This preseason, Watson has played in one drive against the Washington Commanders. After playing in just six games last year, perhaps Watson can use all of this in action. He’s had a full offseason with the team but nothing replaces the in-game reps.
Will the UDFAs make one last good impression?
For three players specifically who have been pretty good this preseason, it is their last chance to impress the coaches and front office. Expect WR Austin Watkins Jr., LB Mohamoud Diabate, and S Ronnie Hickman Jr. to play plenty, especially in the second half. All three of these players have made big plays this preseason, another game that could help them big time when the choices are made before next Tuesday’s deadline.
3 Players to watch
- QB Deshaun Watson: As mentioned, Watson is going to get a couple of drives in against the Chiefs. Against the Washington Commanders, Watson drove down the field with the majority of the starting offense, though they couldn’t punch it in on fourth down. At least one scoring drive would be ideal for the starting offense led by Watson.
- S D’Anthony Bell: I could have put Hickman here, who Bell is battling with for a safety spot. Right now in terms of how training camp has gone, I believe that Hickman should be over Bell on the 53-man roster. Bell is a former undrafted free agent just like Hickman, and one that has one last chance to show he belongs to stick around another year.
- K Cade York: After missing his first two kicks of the preseason, things felt better when York made his first three kicks against the Eagles. Then, the second-year kicker missed a kick that he had two attempts on. The pressure is on York to right the ship to end the preseason.
