The Pittsburgh Steelers dominated the Atlanta Falcons in the preseason finale on Thursday winning by a score of 24-0.
Finshing the offseason on a high note, Pittsburgh now approaches the 53-man roster deadline with some tough decisions to make.
But these players and positions came away as winners tonight, leaving Pittsburgh optimistic for their upcoming season, especially after Kenny Pickett's latest performance:
"Pick-ture" Perfect
It may only be preseason, and the Steelers did play their fair share of backups, but you will be hard-pressed to find a better three-game stretch from any signal caller in recent preseason memory.
And perhaps the most impressive part of Pickett's game is what doesn't show on the stat sheet. His ability to stay calm in the pocket, playing on time and in the rhythm of the offense is the most impressive development in his game.
Pickett displayed that and more tonight, once with a beautiful pass to set up their first TD to Pickens, and before that with a layered throw down the boundary to Dionate Johnson:
If he and the offense can carry their momentum into the regular season, then the Steelers hype train that has been picking up steam nationally will soon be at capacity, with Pickett as the conductor.
Lucky Number 3
Not one, not two, but all three of the Steelers' touchdowns came from three different backs and blocking units, showing Pittsburgh's capacity to carry the load inside the red zone.
Despite wanting to create more explosive plays in the passing game, the identity of the team still runs through the trenches, with tonight serving as a sample size of Pittsburgh's outlook in 2023.
Shutout City
The first of two forced fumbles, not only did Pittsburgh's defensive units turn the ball over on Thursday, but they kept the Falcons off the scoreboard through all four quarters.
That's hard to do even in the preseason when you consider the parody that occurs after halftime of most contests in August.
Pittsburgh's defensive dominance just speaks further to the fact that this 90-man roster is one of the best in the league, making the next five days a stressful one for the Steelers decision makers as they trim the roster to 53 players.

He just can’t help himself
