The Kansas City Chiefs did not escape the preseason finale against the Cleveland Browns unscathed, but the good news is that they didn't suffer any major injuries.

The Chiefs suffered quite a bit of attrition at the linebacker position, beginning with second-year LB Leo Chenal, who was injured on the play where he recovered a Browns fumble. He was initially ruled questionable to return to the game with a hip injury before eventually being ruled out for the remainder of the game.

The Chiefs lost three more linebackers during the course of the game with Cole Christiansen, Cam Jones, and Ola Fatukasi all leaving the game due to injury. The situation was so bad that the team had to put Jack Cochrane back in the game and play a sub-package defense because they simply didn't have enough bodies at the linebacker position.

"Really none of the injuries we had will hold the guys back, which is a positive thing," Reid told reporters after the game. "Leo (Chenal) has a hip pointer on the fumble recovery. Cole Christiansen hurt his ribs. (Cornell Powell) had a little bit of a hamstring. Wanya Morris had a little bit of a shoulder. Cam Jones concussion. (Ola) Fatukasi concussion. These are all things that the guys will be able to come back from."

Big Red also provided some updates on some injured players who didn't play on Saturday. Nic Jones, for instance, has been absent after suffering some fractures in multiple fingers.

"He's doing OK," Reid said of Jones. "He didn't have to have the surgery on (his hand). So that was a good thing."

As for when Kadarius Toney might return to practice? He could return as early as next week according to Reid.

"Possibly, yeah possibly," Reid said. "We'll just see. We're taking that one day by day, but he's doing great right now."

We'll just have to wait to see how some of these injuries turn out, both new and old, but it seems like the Chiefs have nothing to be too concerned about.
