New York Giants wide receiver Jalin Hyatt is arguably the most exciting newcomer of the team's rookie class. A speedy playmaker out of Tennessee, Hyatt was drafted to be the dynamic downfield threat that Daniel Jones and the offense desperately needs.
It didn't take much time for Hyatt to turn heads in OTAs and training camp. He has put his blazing quickness on full display in reps. That has mostly translated to preseason action, too.
Aside from a quiet preseason opener, Hyatt has provided some exciting moments on the field. That includes catching his first touchdown in week two of the preseason where he put the safety in a blender and created tons of separation in the process.
On Saturday, the rookie wideout provided yet another highlight-worthy play. Matched up with All-Pro cornerback Sauce Gardner, Hyatt showcased his speed and blew right by one of the best defensive backs in all of the NFL.
Hyatt hit Gardner with a stutter step before turning on the jets and creating a throwing window for the quarterback. Unfortunately, Tyrod Taylor was not able to connect with the rook for a big gain.
Still, the rep provided a glimpse into what Hyatt has the ability to do on the NFL level — preseason or not. It's not easy to win a rep against a talent like Gardner, but Hyatt did just that on the opening play of the game.
The New York Giants need weapons to emerge for Daniel Jones to get the ball to a consistent basis. Already, it looks like Jalin Hyatt is ready to do just that with week one just right around the corner.
