Tennessee Vols redshirt senior cornerback Kamal Hadden joined The Volunteer Locker Room (powered by Spyre) this week, along with fellow redshirt senior cornerback Warren Burrell, to discuss the upcoming 2023 season.
Hadden was asked by interviewer Jayson Swain, a former Vols wide receiver who co-hosts a radio show on WNML in Knoxville, which Tennessee wide receiver was the most difficult to cover during fall camp.
The veteran cornerback went with a couple of older guys as his answer.
"This fall camp, I would give it to both Ramel Keyton and Bru McCoy," said Hadden. "Ramel Keyton is like my stable mate — it's like sparring practice (with Keyton) ever since I came here. It's just me and him every day. We line up and go at it."
"Bru McCoy, he's a nice receiver as well," added Hadden. "His energy and the way he attacks the game. Mentally and physically, he's a tough receiver to guard."
While Hadden pointed out Keyton and McCoy as two Vols wide receivers that have been tough to guard during camp, he also made sure to give credit to UT's entire wide receiver room and the offensive coaching staff.
"Overall, our whole receiver core gets us ready for anything on Saturdays," noted Hadden. "Going against our offense, you have to be ready to defend on an island. We have a great receivers coach and a great offensive coaching staff. It's just iron sharpens iron every day."
Tennessee's defense should make a big jump this season in part because of going against the Vols' high octane offense on a daily basis.
