FOXBOROUGH, MA – Hunter Henry had one main word he continued to use when talking about the New England Patriots' offense: consistency.
The Patriots are gearing up to start the 2023 season, with a few changes to the offense. However, that's only allowed them to get stronger, and Henry believes that has only made them better.
So when asked if he has confidence in the offense heading into the season, his answer was simple.
"A lot of confidence. You gotta have confidence, so we're excited to go out there and compete," Henry said. "I think it's just the consistent nature that we've gone out and gone about every single day."
After clear struggles last season, Bill Belichick brought in Bill O'Brien to lead the offense. And Henry was very complimentary of the new offensive coordinator who brings a lot of experience with him to New England.
"Man talking about consistency, I feel like he's been very consistent with us," Henry said. "He brings a lot of energy to our room and it's fun. I think he bounces a lot of things off of us, feedback from us and talking to us, and it's kind of a back and forth in a lot of ways. He's fun to be around for sure."
O'Brien has also helped another key member of the Patriots offense.
Mac Jones took a serious decline in his second year in the league, but is looking to put that in the rearview mirror. And in Henry's eyes, Jones and O'Brien share a very strong quality.
"Mac's always been consistent. It's who he is. But this year, I feel like he's just been super, super consistent at all times. In the building, outside of the building, on the field, off the field. He's a great leader and he's fun to go out there and compete with," Henry said. "I'm excited to go out there and begin that journey with him during the season this year. But he's doing a fantastic job."
That journey will begin on Sunday, as people will get to see the new and improved Patriots offense in action. And while many do not have high expectations for the team, they are looking to prove everyone wrong.
And as for himself, despite having a slight injury scare recently, Henry doesn't appear to have anything holding him back.
"I feel good. I'll be ready to go," Henry said about Week 1.
