The New England Patriots are looking to get to 4-2, but they’ll have to get through the New York Jets to do so. That’s why the latest news involving Patriots running back TreVeyon Henderson and starting left tackle Will Campbell is important.

Both players are dealing with separate injuries and were listed as questionable on the final injury report. However, both are expected to play against the Jets, per NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.

Henderson has been dealing with an ankle injury he picked up in New England’s Week 5 win over the Las Vegas Raiders. Campbell suffered a knee injury in the same game. At one point, it was pretty unclear whether either player would suit up, but the latest updates appear to have settled the matter.

The fact A.J. Brown returns this week only sweetens the deal, as well.

Why TreVeyon Henderson and Will Campbell matter so much to the Patriots offense

This is a big deal for the Patriots offense because Henderson is their best running back. He might not lead the team in rushing yards, but he’s a far more explosive option than Rhamondre Stevenson, who leads New England with a little more than 200 rushing yards and two touchdowns.

Henderson gives the Patriots a home-run threat every time he touches the ball. That’s a different dimension than Stevenson brings, and it forces defenses to account for him on every snap he’s on the field.

Campbell’s availability might be even more important. He’s the team’s left tackle, and that alone speaks to his value to the offense. Campbell has shown solid improvement in 2026 after a disastrous performance in the Super Bowl, so having him on the field keeps that progress going.

Plus, keeping the offensive line together is paramount to offensive success in the NFL. Any time a starting tackle misses time, it creates a ripple effect across the entire line. Avoiding that this week is a win in and of itself for New England.

Jets injury updates make the situation even better for New England

The news gets better for the Patriots when you look at the other sideline.

The Jets have already ruled out running back Breece Hall, wideout Adonai Mitchell, pass rusher Joseph Ossai, and guard Dylan Parham heading into this game. All four players are significant contributors, and their absence will definitely hurt New York’s chances of winning this Week 6 matchup.

On the other hand, Rapoport also reported that Kenyon Sadiq, the rookie tight end out of Oregon, will play after clearing the NFL’s concussion protocol and putting in a full practice on Friday. That’s a nice boost for the Jets, but it doesn’t come close to offsetting the four players they’re missing.

When you put it all together, the injury picture tilts heavily in New England’s favor. The Patriots get two key offensive pieces back, while the Jets are short-handed in multiple spots. Patriots fans have good reason to feel good about where things stand heading into this game.

Regardless, the Patriots have to like their chances after these latest updates. Now it’s about turning that advantage into a win against their AFC East opponent in Week 6.
