Grant DuBose may be a seventh-round rookie, but there's plenty of jobs to be won in the Green Bay Packers receiver room. Therefore, every rep matters during the offseason.

That's why it's been so unfortunate to see him sit on the sidelines with what Packers head coach Matt LaFleur revealed Wednesday is a back issue. DuBose hasn't been able to participate in rookie minicamp, OTAs, or mandatory minicamp since he was drafted back in April.

In other words: He's missed the entire offseason, thus far.

The missed time is really starting to add up and it's fair to wonder if DuBose is out of the running before he even got a legit chance at making the team.

"I think anytime, guys, especially young players, aren't getting the reps – there's always a concern there," LaFleur told reporters Wednesday. "But I think at some point, you anticipate him being back. Christian Watson is a great example: last year missing the majority, or all of training camp, and then it took him a minute to kind of get in the groove, so to speak. So I think all those reps are absolutely critical for all young players [and] for all players; but in particular, the young players that don't have a lot to lean on from past experiences."

There are 10 other receivers on the Packers roster outside DuBose, but one factor that works in his favor is the fact that none of them have spent more than two seasons on an NFL team. The youth and inexperience is aplenty, which can ultimately work in the rookie's favor.

But, that remains to be seen. Right now, DuBose just needs to get on the field. Because the clock is officially ticking when it comes to his opportunity to make the 53-man roster.
