It took former Tennessee Vols wide receiver Jalin Hyatt one training camp practice to show why the New York Giants traded up to select him in the third round of the 2023 NFL Draft.

The 2022 Biletnikoff Award winner showed off his impressive speed on Wednesday at Giants training camp on a touchdown run where he showed some nice elusiveness.

If there was any question about Hyatt's speed translating to the next level, that clip pretty much shuts any of that conversation down (though I don't think there are many people who watched college football last season that doubt Hyatt's speed).

The ability to elude defenders combined with Hyatt's speed and intelligence will give the former Vol a chance to make a legitimate impact as a rookie with the Giants.

Hyatt landed in a great situation with a set of coaches in head coach Brian Daboll and offensive coordinator Mike Kafka that are innovative and willing to draw up unique plays to utilize Hyatt's rare skill set. I wouldn't be surprised if a few elements of Tennessee's offense creep into the Giants' playbook as the offensive staff looks for ways to maximize Hyatt's talent.

There are a lot of folks who feel like Hyatt should've been a first round selection. The speed and elusiveness that he showed on Wednesday is certainly evidence that the Giants got a steal in the third round.

Injury update:

Hyatt briefly left Wednesday's practice with trainers, but a source said there's no concern with the rookie wide receiver.

It's not uncommon for players to leave the field for various reasons early during training camp. But thanks to the social media era we live in, every time a player leaves the field, fans hold their breath. Fortunately for Hyatt and the Giants, it sounds like there's no reason for concern in this instance.
