The Denver Broncos have been front and center in the national spotlight over this past offseason. Sean Payton was brought in, turning the organization on its head. From changing how Russell Wilson is able to use the facilities, to a drastic change to the preseason, to going as far as to remove bucket hats from the sideline.
Then, there were some more negatives including some season-ending injuries and an explosive interview with Payton where he shredded the New York Jets and former head coach Nathaniel Hackett.
Since then, there has been bickering from both the Jets and Broncos regarding Sean Payton. During the Jets' first preseason game, superstar WR Garrett Wilson was wearing a bucket hat and sunglasses on the sideline, a subtle jab at head coach Sean Payton.
Wilson was asked if this was in fact a troll job from his end, but Wilson declined to share. Stating, "I was advised not to speak on it."
Payton is the ultimate competitor and he's already done an impeccable job of getting in other team's heads, months away from them seeing the field against one another. A few jabs during an interview have really pushed the Jets' buttons.
Could Payton just be playing 3D chess while the Jets are playing tic-tac-toe? Undoubtedly, the Jets are looking to take the next step with Aaron Rodgers joining the helm. Their thoughts should be on taking the crucial next step in the next direction but seem rather locked in on Payton and his comments about Hackett.
Payton's mind games are paying off well before a single snap has been taken. It could get ugly, but all eyes will undoubtedly be on these two teams when they face off in the regular season.
Here's hoping Payton has something up his sleeve and the offensive line is able to protect Russell Wilson long enough for him to dissect the Jets' defense.
Broncos sign RB Dwayne Washington
The Denver Broncos continued their busy offseason with the latest signing. Sean Payton is doing everything in his power to turn this team around.
