In a recent article for PFF, Sam Monson ranked the 50 best players in the NFL at this very moment.

Some names may shock you with where they end up, and you might be surprised to not see a player's name on the list.

Regardless of your feelings, the Chiefs are represented quite well on that list, bringing in four names.

The first one is an obvious name, that one is Patrick Mahomes, it may come as a surprise however he is at number one overall. Some might say Josh Allen could be more deserving, yet he doesn't get ranked until twelve.

Regardless of your feelings, Mahomes has reached the pinnacle of the sport and has won the Super Bowl two out of the three times he has been.  For someone that is not even thirty years old, that is very impressive.

The second Chiefs player on this list is Travis Kelce, and his ranking may surprise you. He is ranked fourth overall.

Kelce is no doubt one of the best, if not the best at his position; but ahead of guys like Myles Garrett, Nick Bosa, Micah Parsons, Justin Jefferson is a bit of a surprise.

There is no doubt Mahomes and Kelce have a special connection. With Mahomes throwing to him, Kelce has 496 catches for 6,319 yards and has scored 48 touchdowns. That is in 78 games.

Chiefs fans won't have to scroll far to see their next player on the list as Chris Jones comes in at seven overall. For his position he is properly ranked, a bit behind Aaron Donald, and significantly ahead of the next defensive linemen.

However the placement on this list is a bit surprising. Jones comes in ahead of names such as Micah Parsons, Joe Burrow, Davante Adams, Justin Jefferson, Josh Allen, and TJ Watt.

There is no doubt Jones has had an impact for the Chiefs, in his career he has had 65 sacks, 65 tackles for loss, 146 QB hits, and twelve forced fumbles. From an interior defensive line position, that is nothing short of impressive.

Finally Chiefs fans will have to do a bit of scrolling to see the last name on this list, but it is one that will be worth the scroll.

Creed Humphrey comes in at 33 on the list. Creed has been a bright spot for the Chiefs offensive line. While he doesn't have any end of the season All-Pro teams to his name, he did make the 2021 PFF mid-season All-Rookie and All-Pro team. In 2023 he was selected to his first Pro Bowl.

Creed is the first center ranked on this list, and he is only one of two names. The other is Jason Kelce.

To be ranked higher than someone who has had a storied career such as Kelce says a lot of great things about your future. Humphrey is only 24 as well, so he has a lot of time left to mark himself among Chiefs and NFL lore.

But what this feat really exemplifies is how well the Chiefs have drafted over the last 10 years – starting with Kelce's third round selection in the 2013 NFL Draft. Even though current general manager Brett Veach officially earned the title of Chiefs GM, his first year with the team was in 2013, coincidentally enough. And, it was also Andy Reid's first year as head coach.

So, it's clear there's a system in place. And it doesn't appear to be going away anytime soon.
