2024 four-star edge rusher KingJoseph Edwards included Tennessee among his top eight schools on Monday, along with Alabama, Georgia, Florida State, Texas, TCU, South Carolina, and Oklahoma.
(KingJoseph is one of the baddest first names I've heard in a long time. Just imagine the NIL/marketing opportunities Edwards would have in Knoxville if he becomes a dominant edge rusher.)
Edwards, 6-foot-5/242 lbs from Hoschton, GA, is rated in 247Sports' composite rankings as the No. 16 edge rusher in the nation and the No. 27 player in the state of Georgia.
According to On3's Jeremy Johnson, Edwards hasn't taken any official visits yet, but that's expected to change this fall. Johnson noted that Edwards will officially visit TCU and he could also visit South Carolina and Tennessee. Georgia, however, is viewed as the favorite to land the talented pass rusher, though there's plenty of time for that to change (official visits will likely play a key role in Edwards' decision).
Scouting report via 247Sports: A potential game changer on both sides of the ball. Viewed by some college recruiters as a pass rusher at the next level and others as a tight end. Turned heads at both positions the spring/winter following sophomore season as he dominated both elite camps and 7-on-7 tournaments. Already looks the part as he’s over 6-foot-4 and over 235 pounds. Thick throughout the torso, but in a good way. Should only continue to add mass over the next few years. Still learning how to formulate a game plan and attack a quarterback on a consistent basis, but initial burst and ability to dip/bend tends to cause plenty of issues for opposing offensive tackles. When it comes to the catching passes, has shown time and time again that he can not only win 50-50 shots in the corner of the end zone, but also create separation on drag routes over the middle. Will eventually need to settle on one position, but should be viewed as one of the top mid skill athletes in the 2024 cycle given how he moves for someone his size. Ceiling might ultimately be highest as a stand-up edge player in a 3-4 front, but does have some of the required tools to emerge as a difference maker at tight end.
Tennessee currently has 18 players committed to its 2024 recruiting class which is ranked No. 8 in the nation.
