There's only one Joe Burrow. There's only one Patrick Mahomes. And there's only one Aaron Rodgers.

One day, Carolina Panthers fans are hoping folks will be saying the same thing about Bryce Young.

Every star quarterback is unique in their own way. But star quarterbacks can still share traits with each other. And Young, according to Panthers tight end Hayden Hurst, shares a key trait with Burrow.

Hurst played for the Cincinnati Bengals in 2022 where he was teammates with Burrow.

While with the Bengals, Hurst observed that Burrow, who is generally regarded as one of the best team leaders in the NFL, isn't a quarterback who leads by yelling and being intense all the time (though Burrow can get fiery at times). Instead, he leads by example and by putting in extra film work, staying late, getting in extra work with teammates, etc.

Hurst sees those same traits in Young.

"He's going to go about his business a certain way, kind of like last year when I was with Joe," said Hurst. "He's not in your face, he's not screaming. He's in there watching film every day. And it just makes you want to be on top of your game."

"You don't want to let guys like that down because you know they're going to come to practice every single day – Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, sixth day of camp, it doesn't matter – they're going to be on top of their stuff, so you better be on top of yours as well," added Hurst.

That type of professional leadership is necessary if a team is going to reach the playoffs and ultimately play for a championship. The rah rah stuff is great for social media, but it doesn't mean much if the work isn't being put in.

Fortunately for the Panthers, it sounds like they landed a quarterback who is a lot like Burrow in that he's wise beyond his years, has a strong work ethic, and has instantly earned the respect of his teammates as a young player. That's not something that's common. And it's why Young could end up being the savior of the franchise in Carolina.
