The Denver Broncos have made national headlines. Unfortunately, it's been more focused on the negatives than the positives surrounding the team.

The talk of camp was a season-ending injury to Tim Patrick in which he tore his achilles. Followed by criminal charges after an indefinite suspension for gambling by Eyioma Uwazurike and then news broke about rookie CB Riley Moss needing surgery which would sideline him for about four weeks.

There have been plenty of positives surrounding camp, too. Undrafted rookie Jaleel McGlaughlin has been dominating and the defense has been balling out.

Specifically, the battle between Russell Wilson and Patrick Surtain II has shown just how dominant the Broncos defense has been. Surtain has made Wilson's life a nightmare in camp, clamping on receivers and causing turnovers left and right.

Ultimately, this will only make the two better. Wilson is looking to bounce back from one of his worst statistical seasons in his entire career and the Denver defense is trying to remind the world just how elite they can be.

It's not shocking that Wilson is struggling against one of the league's very best in Surtain. The defensive back is a true game-changer and makes life difficult for every QB that's unfortunate enough to throw the ball his way.

SI.com highlighted Surtain's dominance early on in camp.

"The first day of training camp was tough for No. 10 as he continually locked up with former ‘Bama teammate Patrick Surtain II for a large part of camp."

Just from that practice alone, there were a handful of moments where Surtain blanketed the receiver for an exceptional play. Leaving the offense and Wilson beyond frustrated.

That trend has continued nearly every single day. Surtain has been a difference-maker on the field and is looking to remind the league that he is one of the very best to do it.

The saying is iron sharpens iron. Here's hoping that Wilson going up against Surtain leads to improved success on game day. If Wilson can stay on the field and allow the defense to do their magic without being gassed, the sky is the limit for the organization.
