The Vikings appear open to additions at the cornerback position.

The team completely overhauled the defensive back rooms this offseason, jettisoning Patrick Peterson, Chandon Sullivan, Duke Shelley, and more.

In response, the team now boasts a young and inexperienced group. On Thursday, the team did bring in an experienced veteran for a workout, however.

Per NFL writer Ben Goessling, the Vikings brought in veteran free agent Ronald Darby for a visit on Thursday.

Darby was only able to play in five games in 2022 before tearing his ACL. Darby did start all five of those games, collecting 14 tackles, three pass defenses, and a forced fumble.

Darby has been a quality starter in the league for years. The former Florida State Seminole was drafted in the second round of the 2015 NFL Draft. As a rookie in Buffalo, Darby collected Defensive Rookie of the Year votes after finishing with 68 tackles and two interceptions.

Since then, Darby has bounced around a little, playing for the Eagles, Commanders, and most recently, the Broncos.

The Vikings currently have third-round rookie Mekhi Blackmon, Akayleb Evans, and Byron Murphy Jr. slated to start at the CB position.

Behind that trio, things are a little dicey. Joejuan Williams, Andrew Booth Jr., Jay Ward, Kalon Barnes, and Tay Gowan are some of the players competing for spots.

Adding a veteran like Darby, who has 88 starts in his career, could greatly help the young corners on the roster. The Vikings had one of the worst pass defenses in the league in 2022, so adding proven players like Darby should prevent that from happening again.
