Cincinnati Bengals offensive lineman Jonah Williams sent a loud message to the rest of the NFL this week.

And it's a message that should scare any team that's on Cincinnati's schedule in 2023 (or any team that could play the Bengals in the playoffs).

Williams, who moved to right tackle this summer to accommodate the addition of left tackle Orlando Brown Jr, met with reporters on Friday and he said that Cincy has the talent to have the best offensive line in the NFL.

"I think it's the most talented group that we've had," said Williams. "And you know, it's a super veteran group as well. And even the young guys that we have are really mature and kind of carry themselves like veterans. So I think the sky's the limit for us. I think we have the talent, the ability to be the best line in the league. And that's what we're working to be."

The Bengals' offensive line showed improvement last season. Cincy went from allowing 3.5 sacks per game in 2021 to allowing 2.8 sacks per game in 2022.

But there's still plenty of room for improvement.

The Kansas City Chiefs — the franchise the Bengals are chasing in the AFC — allowed just 1.5 sacks per game in 2022 (which was No. 3 in the NFL).

Joe Burrow might be right there with Patrick Mahomes in terms of talent, and the Bengals have had success against the Chiefs in recent years, but it's going to be tough for Cincinnati to consistently get past Kansas City (in the playoffs or for the No. 1 seed in the AFC) unless the offensive line plays like one of the best offensive lines in the league.

If Williams is right and the Bengals' offensive line plays up to its talent level and dominates in 2023, then it could be game over for the rest of the AFC — including the Chiefs.

Cincinnati has already proven that they can get to the Super Bowl without an elite offensive line. Imagine what they could do with the best offensive line in the NFL.

Fortunately for Bengals fans, they may not have to imagine for much longer.
