Monday's return to practice for the Cincinnati Bengals was exactly what the team hopes for in the coming weeks. Even without the franchise quarterback out there leading the offense, the pace remains the same, and the execution doesn't miss a beat.

Though, it doesn't hurt to hear Burrow walking around the locker room with no notable limp.

Burrow was the only player not present for Monday's session, and that includes punter Drue Chrisman, who was hospitalized right before Day 1's practice last week. Chrisman was in uniform but did not practice.

Chrisman wasn't ready to specify what exactly he was treated for last week, claiming it was a "freak thing," but the fact that he's been discharged and returned to the team so quickly is a good sign that he'll get back onto the field soon enough. He hopes next week is when that happens.

Trey Hendrickson has been on the field for every practice except Monday, as the two-time Pro Bowl defensive end watched in street clothes. Head coach Zac Taylor told reporters after practice Hendrickson is dealing with a minor "lower body" issue and will be eased back in this week.

Health has been a relative positive for the Bengals sans Burrow and Hendrickson. Chidobe Awuzie continues to progress well as he inches closer to being a full participant, but with how well DJ Turner is repping in his place, the Bengals can continue to be cautious with their No. 1 cornerback.

The only thing the receivers are injuring is the hopes of defensive backs around the NFL.

Tee Higgins and Ja'Marr Chase continue to look exactly like the best 1-2 wide receiver duo in the NFL, no matter who's throwing them the ball. Browning did his best to get each player involved Monday, and the highlights came with it.

No one's going to confuse Jake Browning for Joe Burrow, but if you flip a 9 upside down, you do get a 6.

Browning and Trevor Siemian will continue to trade off days as QB1 in practice, but more positive showings like this from Browning will give him the edge when it comes to divvying out preseason snaps.

The Bengals will have their first padded practice tomorrow before taking Wednesday off and returning for Thursday and Friday.
