The Kansas City Chiefs stay in the history books, even when they're not on the gridiron.

Last night, a trio of players from the franchise made history with their placement in the NFL Top 100 list. The annual list names the league's best players heading into the upcoming season as voted on by their peers.

While there are always some notable omissions on the list, they tend to do a good job of getting the top players right. Patrick Mahomes (1), Travis Kelce (5), and Chris Jones (10) each made the top 10 of the NFL Top 100 list.

It's a bit confounding that those three are the only three Chiefs on this year's list. However, they've got something else going for them.

No other team has ever had three players rank in the top 10 of the NFL Top 100 since its inception back in 2011. That makes up, in part, for the fact that players across the league ignored Creed Humphrey, Joe Thuney, Nick Bolton, and L'Jarius Sneed, fresh off the team's Super Bowl LVII win over the Philadelphia Eagles.

Seven players from Philly cracked the list, by the way.

For Mahomes, it was his second time making the No. 1 spot after landing it for the first time back in 2021. He climbs from the No. 8 spot in 2022. Only Tom Brady (four times) and Mahomes have been voted to the No. 1 spot multiple times.

Kelce has his second consecutive season in the top 10, climbing five spots after landing at No. 10 overall a year ago.

Jones, however, is making his first appearance in the top 10 and he lands ahead of Rams standout DT Aaron Donald. That should help smooth over any of the bumps in contract negotiations (that's sarcasm, folks).

What's perhaps even most impressive about all of this is that Tyreek Hill was also in the top 10. NFL players believe that four players the Chiefs have drafted are among the league's best heading into the 2023 NFL season.
